Love and Unity | Today is truly a day to remember - as three different celebrations are being honored together on one special day. Chinese New Year. Valentine’s. Winter Olympics. Today is full of love. Full of red. Full of unity.

The olympics. The athletes - all the heart they’ve given towards their sport. The people - singing our national anthem with such heart, and cheering on with such soul. As the five rings represent unity, this is a time for Vancouver, for Canadians to open up our hearts in celebration, especially to shed some light and love for those less fortunate.

What a year to share our love for one another. Love for our family. country. nations. neighbours. sport. partners. This year I wish for everyone to open their hearts and share it. As Chinese New Year falls on the day of love, it is also a time for uniting with family. Time for reconciliation. I would like to say to my family how much I love them. I don’t think I say that enough. And why not? For an Olympic athlete, he/she may only have that one shot at making it. then it’s over. after years of effort. But as individuals, we have every day to celebrate love.

This year, instead of receiving red pockets I would like to exchange two Chinese greetings that I wish for everyone:
"身體健康" [good health] and "歲歲平安" [everlasting peace].

May the Year of the Tiger bring happiness, peace, and love to all.
